About Kristen

With a background in Architecture, Interior Design, and Industrial Design — and a life spent close to nature — Kristen Friebele creates art that balances mystery with clarity. Guided by values of minimalism and simple living, each piece is made to inspire calm, presence, and appreciation for the small joys in everyday life.

Her process is meditative. Working in layers, she lets “one layer inform the next,” much like the steps we take in life. Depth, emotion, and light emerge naturally, shaped by her love of mixed media and curiosity for how movement flows across a canvas.

Born in the cornfields of Illinois, raised in Colorado, and now living in Montana, Kristen has always had a deep love for open spaces. Sailing and traveling the world continue to shape how she sees — but most often it’s the quiet details in nature that spark her inspiration. These small moments become both art and stories, which she shares through her blog and weekly notes.

Since 2012, Kristen has worked as a full-time artist, showing in galleries, participating in exhibitions, and having her work collected worldwide. Beyond painting, she also loves silversmithing and leatherwork, and will soon be releasing new collections of jewelry and handbags.
