About the artist
With a background in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design and having spent the majority of her time immersed in nature, Kristen Friebele has a way of balancing mystery and clarity. Her values of minimalism and simple living come to life in each collection. Each piece is created to reclaim a sense of calm and presence in the moment by inspiring observers to notice the small joys in everyday life.
Kristens' work has a meditative approach. With the philosophy of “one layer informs the next", layers are used to create depth and emotion. As in life, we must take one step and only then, the next will be shown. The movement and essence of light in her paintings is conveyed through a love of mixed media.
Born in the cornfields of Illinois, raised in Colorado, sailing and traveling throughout the world, and currently living in Montana, Kristen has a deep love for open spaces. She can often be found out in nature, taking photos of the little things she notices that bring joy, sparks of inspiration, of cues. These moments are the inspirations for her art and life, which are shared as stories and weekly notes on her blog.
As a full-time artist since 2012, Kristen has been in a variety of shows, represented by galleries and in art collections worldwide. Silversmithing for her jewelry collection and sewing leather handbags continue to be passions, which she will be releasing new collections soon.
